Brain Hive Updates and Expands K-12 E-Reading Platform

Brain Hive, an e-book procurement site for K-12 schools, has added several new features to its e-reading platform, supplemented its current e-book collection with new content from two publishers, and plans to broaden its e-book lending service to include state-level and school district options.

The Brain Hive platform provides on demand e-books for K-12 schools at a cost of $1 per book with the option to purchase high-use e-books. Schools that set up a free account have access to more than 5,500 fiction and nonfiction e-books, printable activities, teaching resources, and online quizzes from 25 publishers, including newly acquired titles from Highlights for Children and Toon Books.

The company has also added several new features to its platform, including single sign-on capabilities, which allows individual users to create their own unique user names and passwords. Students can also create, save, and export citations using the new citation tool. A one-click dictionary provides definitions for words within an e-book, and administrators can now assign e-book settings and student profile settings by grade level. In addition, Brain Hive has introduced a concierge program to support new members launching the program in their schools.
