Compass Learning, Renaissance Learning Partner on Personalized Instruction

Compass Learning and Renaissance Learning will integrate the latter's STAR reading and math data with the former's suite of products in an effort to make personalizing learning easier.

"The Renaissance Learning progression — a sequencing of skills a student must master from Kindergarten to high school graduation — is powered by insights from more than 54 million assessments taken each year by students at more than one third of" schools in the United States," according to information released by the company.

Compass Learning products include blended learning tool Hybridge, intervention tool Pathblazer and credit recovery tool Gradbound, among others.

As a result of the integration, Compass will import data from STAR assessments to those programs, create a learning path for individual students, then assign activities based on their educational needs and abilities.

"In partnering with Renaissance Learning, we are combining the power of STAR's learning analytics with the rigor and engagement of our interactive instructional content to ensure that students achieve record academic results," said Eric Loeffel, CEO of Compass Learning, in a prepared statement. "Together, STAR and our brand new suite of learning acceleration software will help educators more efficiently and effectively understand each student and provide them with the resources to realize their full potential."
