Infinity 7 Improves Accessibility, Engagement

Pexip has updated its videoconferencing platform, Infinity, to improve accessibility and improve engagement.

Released in conjunction with new Infinity Connect clients, Infinity 7 is compatible with both Microsoft Lync and legacy video systems.

"Determined to preserve the Microsoft Lync user experience, Pexip Infinity 7 has been engineered to enable video transmissions using firewall-friendly media-over-TCP technology, as well as drag-and-drop functionality to enable ad-hoc escalation of legacy video users into Lync meetings, letting users easily manage calls without leaving the comfort of their current Lync environment," according to a Pexip news release. "Furthermore, Pexip Infinity 7 provides a feature preview of the industry's first and only bidirectional simultaneous multiparty HD video and screen sharing — allowing virtual collaborators to share content and see participants at the same time."

Compatibility with major Web browsers allows users to participate from almost any device.

New features include:

  • Firewall traversal, which allows conferencing nodes "to be deployed in a public DMZ or behind a NAT firewall," according to information released by Pexip;
  • Media latching; and
  • Automatic media overflow, allowing more users to connect to one video meeting room.

The new clients, supported natively on WebRTC browsers and compatible with Windows, OS X and Linux devices, provide the ability to use features such as conference controls, presentation sharing, roster, the ability to add or disconnect participants and more.

"With Pexip Infinity 7, we're taking virtual conferencing to a new level," said Simen Teigre, Pexip CEO, in a prepared statement. "Users can now collaborate on shared content and see participants at the same time, drag-and-drop contacts during calls and include more users due to our firewall-friendly technology — all while providing the best meeting experience for all users and making virtual meetings as easy as picking up the phone. But that's not all; we're also bringing users an all-new suite of client software, making our latest release the company's most exciting to date."
