STI Integrates Chalkable Classroom Management with InformationNow SIS

STI has integrated Chalkable's classroom management tools with its student information system (SIS), InformationNow, in an effort to improve student achievement and task management and streamline workflows.

The integration is a result of STI's acquisition of Chalkable in December 2013 and places the classroom management tool on the same technology platform as the SIS, allowing attendance records, grading, lesson plans and more to be taken in the classroom and automatically logged in the system of record.

Features of Chalkable include:

  • The ability to take attendance by seating chart;
  • Automatic calculation of average grades;
  • Visual analytics covering behavior patterns and student performance; and
  • The ability for teachers and students to annotate assignments from within the interface.

"In the 30 years STI has been in the education business, improving the academic lives and performance of students has been of utmost importance to us," said Derek Dunaway, STI chief executive officer, in a prepared statement. "We acquired Chalkable not only to offer exciting new tools to teachers and schools, but also to deliver a greater, more holistic and immersive learning experience for everyone involved. From the efficiencies a single system brings to teachers in the classroom, to the students being able to safely and securely use classroom tools while at home with their parents, this new integrated product is the beginning of a new way for educators to manage the learning process."
