Pearson Partners with Listen Current on Classroom Audio Resources

Pearson has partnered with Listen Current in an effort to improve classroom engagement and make learning relevant to students' lives.

As a result of the partnership Pearson Literature, the company's English language arts curriculum for students in grades 6-12, will now feature non-fiction public radio stories from Listen Current designed to connect learning to current events.

"Listen Current offers daily current events and lessons for English language arts, social studies and science in middle and high schools," according to a news release. "The real world relevance of these audio stories help students connect with what they are learning every day. All the while, students are working on listening skills for college and career readiness, which have been almost entirely missing from classroom instruction."

"Today multimodal learning is critical in engaging and reaching students of all learning styles," said Leigh Ann Garcia, vice president of Pearson K-12 Literacy, in a prepared statement. "Pearson Literature along with Listen Current allow students to interact with information and content in new ways while also practicing and developing important listening and speaking skills that prepare them for college and career readiness."
