PLTW To Debut Biomedical Courses for High School
Curriculum developer Project Lead the Way will launch new biomedical sciences curricula with the help of National Instruments, a software developer focused on science and engineering. The curricula, targeted toward high school students, will incorporate NI's LabView design software.
The biomedical curricula, which encompass four new high school courses, are designed with a hands-on approach in mind and include project-based learning using NI's LabView software and Vernier SensorDAQ hardware, a USB-based data acquisition interface, which is developed by Vernier Technologies and NI.
The four courses include:
- Principles of the Biomedical Sciences;
- Human Body Systems;
- Medical Interventions; and
- Science Research.
The first course will be tested in 42 high schools this fall, with the remaining three to be rolled out over the next three years.
