Grants Available for Committed Schools

Virtual Schoolhouse Grants are annual, one-time awards of approximately $10,000 in router products, service and training to single-site, K-12 schools for curriculum-based Internet connections.

Each year, Cisco Systems will solicit and review grant proposals that outline the applicant school's technology vision, needs and commitment. The company will announce winners at the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) in June.

A new program, the grants will include a combination of Cisco Systems' products and services, depending on each site's specific needs. Applicants most likely to receive awards will be those that demonstrate solid technology plans and the financial and personnel commitment to implement them.

Applications must be postmarked no later than March 1, 1996. The firm's Web site offers additional guidance. Cisco Systems, Inc., San Jose, CA, (800) 533-NETS, sunsite.unc.edu/cisco/.
