Israeli & U.S. Firms Exchange Programs

The Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Corp. (EBEC) has entered a joint agreement with Technological Educational Developments Ltd. (TED) of Haifa, Israel, to exchange new and innovative science and technology curriculum programs for elementary and secondary schools.

EBEC plans to launch TED's technology program for the first time ever in the U.S. in Chicago schools during the 1996 school year. The program's experience-based instructional approach gives students an understanding of the application and impact of technological systems in their daily lives.

In turn, TED will introduce the Britannica Science System (BSS) to students in Israel. Tailored for grades K-6, BSS is currently being used by 8,000 elementary schools in 29 U.S. states. In California alone, 45% of the school districts have purchased BSS, and many are using it in lieu of textbooks, says EBEC. Encyclopaedia Britannica Educational Corp., Chicago, IL, (312) 347-7900.
