Read Stories in Spanish or English

Written by children's authors expressly for Ideal Learning, stories featured in the Primary Reading Curriculum in Spanish draw on themes from four areas -- science, health and safety, home and neighborhood, and nation and the world. Let's Explore, a pre-reading lesson, activates prior knowledge and introduces ideas, words and sounds to familiarize students with elements of a story. They can then read the full story at their own pace in English or Spanish. A pop-up glossary displays word meanings, various diagrams and pronunciations. The program suits those learning Spanish or English as a second language. Students apply what was learned in a writing exercise that encourages creativity and divergent thinking. The final composition can be printed and shared with others. Primary Reading is managed by Compass, which allows instructors to assign lessons, view scores onscreen and generate progress reports.
