NFS Client/Server Software Is Versatile

ChameleonNFS is a powerful NFS client and server system for Windows 3.1, 95 or NT. Users can seamlessly share files and directories with any other NFS system including UNIX, IBM, DEC, Macintosh and other PCs. The software lets one execute programs over the network or run applications locally while transparently storing data on a network server. The NFS client, implemented as a VxD, can run over NetManage or Microsoft TCP/IP protocol stacks and can support as many as 24 network drives. All functionality is integrated into the Windows File Manager or Explorer, so accessing a remote drive is as simple as clicking on a disk icon. All remote systems appear as directories and files, and users can even transfer files between two remote systems from their PC. The NFS server lets other NFS clients retrieve PC files. Now users can use powerful host-based backup tools by mounting each PC as a file system. The server also supports file and record locking and can get its user list from an NIS server so user databases can be centralized in one file. Highlights of the latest release ChameleonNFS/X 6.0 include a Policy Management Architecture that provides network bandwidth control; Secure Web WinPCT Security with SSL fallback; an IMAP4 Centralized Message Store that keeps messages on the network server; fully indexed search capabilities; HTML Edit/View in Mail and Forum; and much more.
