Special Videoconf. Rate Is for Educators

LINK-VTC offers a special videoconferencing rate for educational institutions using multipoint bridging to deliver courses. The firm will dial out and connect to all sites for a flat fee of $65 per hour/site. This price includes all transmission and domestic bridging fees. When an entire semester is scheduled in advance, the flat fee locks in the per-hour rate for the whole term. Worcester Polytechnic, for instance, offered undergraduate engineering courses this summer under the new rate scheme. Other special distance learning programs, including training for new videoconference administrators, are available. LINK-VTC is carrier-independent and the third largest multipoint bridging service provider in the world. LINK-VTC, Boulder, CO, (800) LINK-VTC.

California AI Watermarking Bill Supported by OpenAI

OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, is backing a California bill that would require tech companies to label AI-generated content in the form of a digital "watermark." The proposed legislation, known as the "California Digital Content Provenance Standards" (AB 3211), aims to ensure transparency in digital media by identifying content created through artificial intelligence. This requirement would apply to a broad range of AI-generated material, from harmless memes to deepfakes that could be used to spread misinformation about political candidates.
