Take a Digital Field Trip to Some Wetlands

The first in a series, Digital Field Trip to The Wetlands uses QuickTime VR to bring locations of ecological interest into classrooms. The CD lets students explore the Cloud Lake bog in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada, and includes various sections focusing on different aspects of wetlands study.

The Study of a Bog includes the Bog Food Web, Plant/ Animal Adaptations, Formation/ Succession and Photosynthesis. Wetlands Types covers classifications, similarities and differences, and Mechanisms of a Wetland addresses nutrient cycles, erosion, groundwater, productivity and flooding. Another section deals with conservation issues, habitat, pollution and the importance of wetlands in migratory routes for birds.

Digital Field Trip to The Wetlands has a Teacher/Student Workbook that offers a structured exploration of the CD. Digital Frog Int'l., Inc., Puslinch, Ontario, Canada, (519) 766-1097, www.digitalfrog.com. WM
