Learn Photo-Taking With Virtual Photos

Suited for photography classes of all age levels, Photographer is a how-to photography program that simulates taking pictures with a 35mm camera. Users select the camera type, set functions, composition and camera orientation and take simulated photos of a range of real life scenes such as a wedding or a Grand Prix race.

"Photos" are viewed onscreen and a critique of the student's choices and how they affected the different shots is presented. "[It's] a simple and effective instructional tool for teaching the basics," says Craig Halverson of the Photo Marketing Association. "The user can make selections of film type, shutter speeds, lenses, filter elements, weather conditions and range, and see the results immediately as they would be produced on film."

Photographer (Windows) includes an online encyclopedia about photography as well as a series of challenging workshops that teach users about portraiture and scenic and action photography. Brighter Paths, St. Clair Shores, MI, (800) 333-7367, www.brighterpaths.com.
