Library System Integrates Web Access

LibraryWorld 97 is a new family of programs (Windows/Mac) that incorporates a multimedia user interface, cross-platform support and Internet access.

The systemís innovative design gives expert users quick access to powerful features, yet hides unnecessary details from those with simpler needs. The result is a program that provides all the features required by professional library staff, but that is also quickly and easily used by library aides, volunteers and patrons.

Library patrons can search using friendly browsing techniques or powerful Boolean commands, and a ìvirtual shelfî lets users ìwalk up and downî electronic shelves to make selections. Web browsers can be launched from the main window, and the software also allows one to search popular CD-ROM databases.

LibraryWorld 97 includes modules for patron management, report generation, catalog, circulation, serials control, acquisitions, import/export, union catalog, OPAC, multimedia documents, cross-platform, and Internet access. All modules are supported by a wide range of value-added tools; product support by telephone, e-mail and Web site; and comprehensive training options.

Offered in Bronze, Silver and Gold editions, LibraryWorld97 utilizes the firmís MARC Database Engine; LibraryNet is the Web plug-in module. All four run on Windows (3.1, 95 or NT) and Macintosh systems; the database runs with Novell, NT or AppleShare file servers. CASPR, Inc., San Jose, CA, (800) 852-2777, www.caspr.com.
