WebSENSE, now in Version 2.0, is an Internet screening system featuring 28 different categories on which to filter access, and a Master Database of over 50,000 URL and newsgroup addresses that is updated daily.

This breadth and depth of categorization, as well as their quality and consistency, have made the system popular with library systems, colleges and school districts, such as Howard-Suamico SD, Wisc., and Florida Southern College.

Automated search engines scan the Internet continuously, and the firmís staff checks each site for suitability and category. The Master Database, also double-checked for accurate categorization, is updated automatically every night. Also included is a full logging and reporting module, to review ënet activity.

Pre-empting the precocious, WebSENSE converts URLs into IP addresses so that all host machines are blocked as well. Screening technology such as this serves to safeguard from legal liability, preserve productivity, and enforce Internet-access policies.
