Take a Look At Award-Winning Math SW

Larson's Leapfrog Math
Grades: K - 6
Platform: Windows, Macintosh

Larson's Leapfrog Math, a comprehensive print and software package from Meridian Creative Group, was recently awarded a Texty Award from the Text and Academic Authors Association. The author of the program, Dr. Roland E. Larson, has also authored such classic textbooks as Calculus and Interactive Calculus (both of which won awards).

The program seeks to teach students math concepts, not just have kids repeat practice problems. The software is enhanced with models such as fraction models or decimal models, helping children see real-life applications. One of the package's highlights is its ability to be integrated into the curriculum, using whatever approach instructors suggest. It incorporates both free-form and multiple-choice answers, making it suitable for practicing for standardized tests.

Larson's Leapfrog Math has enough material for one class period (30-45 minutes) per week for an entire school year. Features such as the student portfolio function and Classroom Management System round out this well-designed package. Meridian Creative Group, Erie, PA, (800) 695-9427, www.meridiancg.com.
