LabExpert 4 has added new capabilities that simplify the management of classroom and lab PCs. With a new graphical console, LabExpert 4 helps deploy PCs into the classroom, restores PCs to their original state and installs a new application to all classroom PCs.

LabExpert 4 features easier installation than ever before. The improved Bootworks includes an installation wizard that builds diskettes on any number of PCs. The Event Wizard walks you through a simple process to build events. Once the events are created, you simply drag and drop them onto the target PC or group and the event is executed or scheduled.

LabExpert 4 includes an SQL database that maintains critical configuration information such as IP, user name and MAC address. With a drag and drop, a PC’s entire configuration can be deployed or restored at any time.

LabExpert 4 also tracks all events or changes to any PC through the management console. By simply right-clicking a PC or group and selecting "Restore," you recover IP addresses, desktop settings or other lost configuration information. The RapidInstall component distributes software changes to PCs. You can install a new application or driver to all PCs in a classroom without having to leave your desk. Additionally, CourseBuilder allows you to quickly take a classroom from one configuration to another within minutes. Altiris, Lindon, UT, (888) 252-5551, www.altiris.com.
