Blackboard to Expand Online Services

Blackboard, Inc., a leading online education provider, is extending its services with new agreements to further the use of information technology in teaching and learning.

The Blackboard TLT Group Academic Support Program was born of an alliance between Blackboard and The TLT Group, the non-profit teaching, learning and technology affiliate of the American Association for Higher Education. The program helps institutions identify, implement and support the best online and other education technologies. The Academic Support Program strives to help colleges and universities achieve the most effective uses of technology consistent with their academic missions.

Blackboard has also agreed to partner with Microsoft Corp. in an arrangement to ensure smooth compatibility between Microsoft Windows NT and Blackboard’s CourseInfo server software product line.

Blackboard has also struck an agreement with the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) to power its Web-based teaching and learning environment. The DCCCD is a beta partner of the new Blackboard CourseInfo Enterprise Edition, a software product that provides departments and institutions with a common look and feel for their course Web sites. It also provides online education communities, collaboration and assessment tools for faculty and students. The software will allow DCCCD to integrate its entire district into an online environment.
