Mac OS 9 Geared for Internet
Macintosh’s Mac OS 9 operating system features nine Internet power tools, including Sherlock 2, a search engine providing tailored lists of search targets and allowing users to create their own custom channels. Other features include voiceprint password accessibility, a function allowing users to automatically update their software over the Internet, encryption for secure file storage, and a system allowing users to share files or folders easily with other Internet users.
Mac OS 9 is designed to make the Macintosh a more effective tool for connecting to the Internet. Its Multiple Users feature makes it easy to share a computer with many students in a lab, classroom, or school. Online support for NetBoot, Macintosh Manager, and Network Assistant facilitates the integration of OS 9 clients into large network environments.
