NEW RELEASES - Wacom

Wacom’s Graphire USB input system for Macs and PCs features a cordless, scrolling mouse and cordless, pressure-sensitive pen, and is available in a variety of eye-catching colors. The mouse includes a scrolling feature for both Macs and PCs, and the pen is useful for painting, photo retouching, or adding handwritten notes and signatures to electronic documents.

The mouse has no ball and needs no cleaning. The pen can sense 512 levels of pressure, offering smooth transitions between light and hard pressure. The pen barrel includes a DuoSwitch, a programmable switch, each side of which can be programmed to function as a double mouse click, a left or right click, a keystroke, a macro or pop-up menu, a modifier key, an eraser, or a mode toggle from relative to absolute positioning. Rather than using infrared transmitters, the mouse and pen work with the active area of a Wacom tablet surface, which uses a very low power radio signal to locate the tools on the tablet surface and to send location, pressure, and other information to the computer.

The mouse and pen come with a software package including MetaCreations Painter Classic, Wacom PenTools, and Paragraph’s PenOffice SE handwriting software (for PCs only). Wacom, Vancouver, WA, (360) 896-9833, www.wacom.com.
