Service Connects Students and Tutors Online

FastMatch from tutor.com is an online connection linking independent tutors and students. The service allows students and teachers to connect online for real-time instruction on any subject at any time. User-friendly technology allows learners to find, select, and connect with tutors who are immediately available online. Learners can search an extensive database of registered tutors in a wide range of academic and nonacademic subjects. Students can select tutors by multiple criteria, including subject, hourly fee, teaching philosophy, academic and teaching qualifications, and reviews from previous students. More than 8,000 registered tutors are listed in the database, and new teachers from around the world are signing up every day. The learning experience is enhanced with a chat interface and whiteboard technology, as well as an easy to use credit card billing system.

Founded by George Cigale, previously Vice President of The Princeton Review, tutor.com strives to connect a community of people of all ages and backgrounds who can connect with each other for learning. The service gives teachers an online referral service, and helps them start their own online tutoring businesses. Tutors can register in nonacademic subjects and skills, as well as traditional subjects. Currently, more than 350 subjects are offered, for a broad spectrum of learning options to supplement any student’s core education.

Tutor.com offers a re-lesson guarantee, so that if a student isn’t satisfied with his or her experience, another session will be provided free of charge. Approximately 70% of registered tutors have volunteered their time and services for students who can’t afford tutoring. In addition, the tutor.com Foundation will provide scholarships to students in need. Tutor.com, New York, NY, (212) 528-3101, www.tutor.com.
