Education Program Encourages Use of Handhelds

Palm, Inc., developers of Palm handheld computers, has announced the Palm Education Training Coordinator program, which certifies local educators to deliver staff development curriculum on the use of Palm handhelds in education. The program helps school districts and educational organizations create in-house staff development programs for basic handheld computer skills. The program provides leadership, resources and curriculum for teachers and students.

Included in the program are a three-day trainer certification course for qualified trainers, a trainer starter kit of hardware and software, a ready-to-use curriculum, and ongoing support and update training. Palm provides the three-day training program free of charge, and will support ongoing professional development for education training coordinators who agree to conduct professional development classes for educators in their district for two years. Currently, certification classes are scheduled for March, April and August. Palm, Inc., Santa Clara, CA, (408) 326-9000, www.palm.com/education/training.
