Focus on Copiers...Kyocera Mita America

From Kyocera Mita America, Inc. (KMA) and Electronics for Imaging comes the Fiery X4 print controller, a color server that delivers enhanced performance from KMA's Ci7600 color copier. The X4 offers networking capabilities and a number of convenient features for graphic arts requirements and other applications. The print controller lets users preview, edit and merge multi-page documents for document set printing, and it produces entire sets of critical documents to the Ci7600 at a maximum speed of 6 ppm for full color and 23 ppm for black and white. The X4 includes custom hardware, an Intel processor, and a high-speed PCI bus.

Sharpness and accuracy of colors are ensured by KMA's proprietary color technology. A set of ColorWise Pro Tools allows users to create or download ICC profiles to accommodate new media, inks, toners and printers. The Fiery Color Editor allows users to edit profiles, save them, and download them to other devices. Fiery's hardware enables faster printing over a wide range of PCI bus speeds, as well as compression, scanning and image processing.

Local system administrators can modify and control job flow through the Fiery. Remote management across the Internet or an intranet is also provided. The system reports job and equipment status to desktops for easy network management so that users from any workstation can see a print job's status, its position in the queue, and the paper and toner levels. The system also alerts users of any errors. Kyocera Mita America, Fairfield, NJ, (800) ABC-MITA, www.kyoceramita.com.
