Scantron Program Offsets NCLB Costs

Scantron Corp. is offering a $2.5 million program through the end of May aimed at offsetting some of the financial strain of complying with NCLB. The program will equip school districts nationwide with 250,000 free assessments using "Performance Series," a computer-adaptive online assessment program tailored for each test-taker's ability level. These criterion-referenced tests in reading and math provide teachers with a method of creating individualized learning plans. With a small investment in training, the program allows districts to test students twice a year, once to determine ability and once to measure improvements.
