Conference Preview: NECC 2003

The 24th Annual National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) will be held June 29-July 2 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. Presented by ISTE in cooperation with the Northwest Council for Computer Education, this year's conference gives educators nationwide the opportunity to choose from more than 350 spotlight sessions, view more than 15 student showcases, as well as participate in "Birds-of-a-Feather" roundtable discussions.

This year's NECC also offers an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, including Mae Jemison, M.D., the first woman of color to go into space and Alan Kay, Ph.D., a leading architect of modern workstations and a pioneer of appropriate technologies for modern learners who helped found Xerox PARC. Other program highlights include special sessions focusing on the No Child Left Behind Act, the NECC Student World showcase of projects, and educational forums on assessment and administrative leadership.
