T.H.E. Journal Launches Online Product-Review Forum for Education Market

This month marks the official launch of the Educational Technology Information Center (ETIC, online at www.edtechinfocenter.com), the latest addition to T.H.E. Journal ’s online properties. This free Web site offers peer reviews of hardware, software (instructional and administrative), and services in the K-12 and higher education markets. The site lets educators who have made purchases rate the products and write reviews of them based on their experience. Prospective buyers will be able to read reviews and commentary, as well as post their own questions to help them gather information to justify a purchase. Manufacturers and software publishers also will be able to input data about their company and products, as well as have the opportunity to respond to any comments or questions.

In addition to detailed product information, reviews will include comments relating to pre- and post-sales support, implementation and installation in educational environments, vendor support and customer service, meeting of expectations, and application to educational standards for curriculum software. All reviews and comments will be moderated by MGT of America Inc., who will act as an independent third party to ensure that all postings are useful and non-commercial. ETIC will also provide visitors access to T.H.E. Journal ’s archive of case studies, new product information, press releases, as well as other tools and tips specifically designed for educators.

According to T.H.E. Journal ’s Publisher Wendy La Duke, “Our goal is to provide a forum for educators to share their experiences using technology in the real world so that everyone can make smarter ed tech investments.”
