Tablet PCs Transform N.D. University Into a High-Tech School
Gateway’s M275 convertible tablet PC is transforming Mayville State University in eastern North Dakota into a pioneering high-tech school. One of only four universities nationwide to employ tablet PCs on campus, Mayville has distributed M275s to more than 750 full-time students and current faculty members. The PCs have won favor with the university because of their tablet PC pen, an interactive feature that allows students to take notes on-screen and lets professors annotate live presentations. The program, now at the midway point of its first year, has opened the school to new possibilities, including the near-elimination of paper in classrooms and the electronic submission of student assignments, which enables the interaction of students and their professors through in-tandem editing and grading.
