SolidWorks and Ten80 Education Launch High School STEM Competition

4/11/2007—SolidWorks has partnered with Ten80 Education to launch the FastTrack National Challenge League to promote science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education for high school students. High school teams will design and race 1/10 scale model remote-control cars in the competition, scheduled to launch next fall.

According to SolidWorks, the contest "is based on the Math2Go Accelerated program, in which students learn and apply the fundamentals of science, technology, engineering and math as they model, design, and test their cars to drive farther and faster." SolidWorks will provide entrants with free 3D CAD software and online resources to share car models.

"I have never used any CAD software before," said Donald McKeithan, a senior at Greenbriar High School outside of Atlanta, GA. "SolidWorks has a very good interface. It gives me a clear view of what I need to do, and how I need to get it done."

Ten80 Education, based in Saratoga Springs, NY, provides strategies and technologies designed to improve STEM education in the classroom.
