Horace Mann School Receives $100,000 Donations

Boston Public's Horace Mann School for the deaf and hard of hearing will receive $100,000 of donated technology from 13 different companies participating at AIIM and On Demand Conferences & Expos. Donations will include a variety of equipment and software.
"We are honored that these corporations are interested in supporting our children and enhancing their education with these generous donations," said Michael G. Contompasis, superintendent of the Boston Public Schools, in a prepared statement. "Corporate support of public education is vital to keeping schools like the Horace Mann School at the forefront of technology. Access to state of the art technology solutions allows our students to get excited about their future, and fuels their learning for years to come."
Horace Mann, located in Allston, MA, provides career training and education for hearing-impaired and deaf students from birth until the age of 22.
Companies donating technology include: Böwe Bell + Howell; Datacap Inc.; DataVault Inc.; Eastman Kodak Company; Estimator Corp.; James Burn International; Kofax; Microsoft Corp.; Nuance Communications Inc.; Ricoh Corp.; Spiral Binding; Visioneer Inc.; and Xerox Corp.'s Office Group.
Horace Mann has 150 students currently enrolled and is a part of the Boston Public School System, which has 57,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 in 145 schools.
