Blackboard To Buy Out Mass Communications Firm

CMS/LMS developer Blackboard announced this week its intent to acquire NTI Group. NTI is a provider of mass notification and emergency alert systems used in higher education and K-12. Both companies have already approved the acquisition, and the deal is expected to close this quarter, pending regulatory approval....

SATABeast Xi Delivers 42 TB Storage for Xserve

At the Macworld Conference & Expo being held this week in San Francisco, Nexsan is debuting a new high-density storage solution for Apple's Xserve and Mac Pro systems. Dubbed the SATABeast Xi, the 4U rackmount system, which is expected to ship in mid-March, will offer up to 42 TB of storage and features that allow it to improve energy efficiency....

PR: Registrations, Exhibitors Reach Record Levels at FETC 2008

FETC, a division of 1105 Media and one of the largest conferences in the nation devoted entirely to educational technology, announced today that attendee pre-registration for the 2008 conference, staging Jan. 22-25 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., is up 15 percent over 2007 numbers. Nearly 9,000 educators and administrators from all 50 states will be attending 200-plus conference sessions and workshops presenting the latest information and best practices in hot-button categories such as virtual learning, emerging technologies, security plus teaching and professional development and more....
