Dell has announced the expansion of its Dell TechKnow program, providing an enhanced curriculum that is now applicable to students from middle school through college.

TechKnow is a curriculum-based program that gives students in-depth technology training, coupled with hands-on experience working through common IT problems. According to the company, students involved in the program develop real-world skills that include critical thinking, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration, and customer service, among others.

"The evolution of the Dell TechKnow program is a great example of Dell's commitment to providing students with the workforce skills, knowledge and experiences necessary to be successful at school and in life," said Mark Horan, vice president and general manager, Dell Public Accounts, in a prepared statement. "It also gives Dell the opportunity to partner with our customers to achieve the mutual goal of advanced learning in the classroom."

In existence since 2002, the program has touched more than 25,000 students nationwide. With 5 new pilot programs in Austin, Texas, the company has set a goal to double the number of students reached, as well as provide higher-level skills to those involved. The curriculum is available to Dell's education, and state and local government customers in the United States and Canada.
