CASE Adopts DimensionM Video Game for STEM Initiative

Tabula Digita's algebra-based video game, DimensionM, has been selected by the Center for the Advancement of STEM Education (CASE) to be included in the center's push to increase student interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

Tabula's DimensionM series incorporates algebra and pre-algebra lessons into a 3D environment in which players carry out missions (lessons) in single-player or multi-player tournament-style games. Players face mathematical obstacles, which, when solved, allow players to advance and score points.

According to CASE, after conducting an independent pilot to develop baseline data, the organization brought DimensionM to the attention of the Department of Defense (the funding engine for the organization), as well as the National Institute of Aerospace and Nortel, and invited them to conduct their own pilot in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the platform for inclusion in the CASE program.

As a component of the CASE initiative, two-year site licenses of DimensionM will be given to participating schools. Currently, the organization estimates a minimum of 10 licenses will be distributed throughout the United States. Funding for the game is being provided through the Department of Defense's National Defense Education Program (NDEP) initiative.
