Scantron, ETS Partner To Deliver Assessment Solutions

Scantron has entered into a multi-year licensing and distribution agreement with Educational Testing Service (ETS). Under the agreement, Scantron will distribute ETS' Item Banks along with its Scantron Achievement Series product.

The Achievement Series is a Web-based tool used to gauge and track students' progress as they work toward local and state assessments. The ETS Item Banks provide state standards-aligned resources aimed at helping educators measure reading, math, science, and writing skills. Individual items included in the ETS Item Banks can be combined to create customized benchmark or formative assessments.

"Scantron's expertise is in the rapid, accurate and reliable capture, reporting and analysis of student performance data. Coupled with ETS's expertise in item development, our school and district partners will have a much broader array of standards-aligned items to use in crafting valid and reliable assessment instruments," said Sean Ryan, Scantron senior vice president and general manager, K-12 Education, in a prepared statement. "This is part of our effort to provide educators with a comprehensive and cost-effective assessment tool set for improving student learning outcomes."

According to Scantron, inclusion of the Item Banks with the Achievement Series platform will allow teachers to search for resources by standard, subject, and grade level.
