Identity Theft Searches on the Rise
Identity theft searches are on the rise, according to Tiversa, suggesting that identify theft itself is also increasing. Research by the company, which specializes in helping organizations mitigate data leaks, said identity theft-related searches have risen by about a third during the last quarter of 2008.

Plagiarism Checker Works with Peer Student Revision Tool
Oshkosh Area School District in Wisconsin is testing a suite of tools from iParadigms, which produces Turnitin.com, a Web site that tests for plagiarism. Using the Turnitin service, called WriteCycle, Oshkosh West High School teachers can collect student papers electronically and submit them for analysis against an ever-evolving database containing millions of journals, periodicals, student papers, and other possible resources.

Georgia District Deploys Unitrends To Protect Data
Griffin-Spalding County Schools has installed the Unitrends Rapid Recovery System to provide hardware protection and data backup and recovery in the event of a disaster. The suburban district, located 40 miles south of Atlanta, comprises 21 schools teaching grades K through 12.
