Online Game Aims To Make Learning K-2 Math Fun

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Dreambox Learning has launched DreamBox Learning K-2 Math, an online interactive game designed to help children learn math while engaging in an adventure game.

The game, aimed at children in grades K through 2, as well as their parents, provides lessons that develop computational fluency, conceptual understanding, and problem-solving ability. Parents can monitor their children’s progress using an online “dashboard,” which provides feedback and regular status reports.

As in many online adventure games, the user chooses a theme, from dinosaur, pirate and others, as well as one of 36 character avatars to represent himself or herself on screen. The child plays the game online and becomes progressively more involved in the adventure, while building skills in number sense, counting, place value, and computation. All game and learning data is stored with the user account for future play and for parents’ reference via the dashboard.

The lessons embedded within the adventures are part of a curriculum based on the NCTM Curriculum Focal Points for  Kindergarteners and first- and second-graders.

Dreambox offers subscriptions starting at $12.95 a month, with discounts applying to six- and 12-month agreements.
