Discovery Education Expands Digital Media Library via Multiple Partnerships
At the 2009 National Educational Computer Conference (NECC) this week, Discovery Education announced it has entered into three new partnerships that will allow it to expand its already substantial library of digital media for the education market, specifically increasing the number of post-2000 copyrighted streaming video titles it offers to more than 5,000.
The partnerships the company announced at the National Educational Computing Conference this week include:
- A renewed agreement with PBS Distribution, a joint venture between the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and its Boston-based affiliate W GBH; titles offered via streaming video beginning this fall will include the documentary miniseries "Ken Burns' Civil War," episodes of Frontline and American Experience, and children's series Arthur and Peep and the Big Wide World.
- The Chicago Sun-Times; Discovery will offer two full-length documentaries via streaming video covering the election and inauguration of President Barack Obama: This Is Our Moment: Election Night 2008 and The Time Has Come: Inauguration Day 2009.
- Educational Publishers, a joint venture between Pearson Education and BBC Worldwide; two new series on streaming video: Wild Pacific and Nature's Most Amazing Events.
