San Diego USD Looks To Improve Web Communications

San Diego Unified School District in California is arranging to improve its online collaboration and communication tools. The district has signed an agreement adopting Schoolwires' Centricity in an effort to augment communications between parents, teachers, students, and other constituents who speak more than 60 languages and dialects.

The district said the adoption of Centricity will allow it to deploy a district-wide communications platform with digital file sharing, service request management, and community management.

"Our mission is to improve student achievement and to ensure that all students graduate with the skills they need to be successful," said Darryl LeGace, chief information technology officer for San Diego Unified, in a prepared statement. "Centricity will provide us with a district-wide platform that will enable improved two-way communications with our school communities, which in turn will engage our constituents further in support of our mission. It will enhance communications with the general public, our staff, our parents and our students; and it is a cost-effective solution to accomplish this goal."

San Diego Unified comprises more than 220 schools, including adult and alternative education facilities. It serves more than 132,000 students and employs more than 15,800 teachers and staff.
