Saint Louis Public Schools Bolsters Online Communications

Saint Louis Public Schools (SPLS) in Missouri is rolling out a new Web-based communications and collaboration portal to help improve communications between schools and their communities.

For the deployment, SPLS will use Schoolwires Centricity and Synergy Solutions. Centricity is hosted Web site development and community management solution that provides information sharing and allows teachers to populate information on the district Web site. Synergy is a Web-based solution for sharing documents, presentations, and other files.

"The ability for any authorized staff member to easily populate the district Web site with information, resources and interactive tools will also help the district better communicate its strengths in student achievement and teacher quality," said Patrick Wallace, director of communications at SPLS, in a prepared statement. "We are facing increased competition from charter, private and parochial schools so it is very important that our Web site reflects the positive strengths of the district to potential parents, students and staff, as well as our existing community members."

Saint Louis Public Schools consists of 74 schools and three alternative programs. The District employs more than 2,800 teachers and 1,200 additional staff.
