PCI Partners with Social Network To Aid Special Ed Teachers

Education social and professional network We Are Teachers (WAT) has partnered with special education resources provider PCI Education to give special education teachers their own forum for interacting and sharing methods and ideas.

Through this partnership, said a spokesperson for WAT, a micro community for special education teachers has been created to facilitate the sharing of best practices. Members can interact through subject interest circles, forums, blogs, webinars, and other Web 2.0 social networking tools.

In addition, teachers can apply, via the community, for special micro grants specifically geared toward special education projects. Users submit their project ideas and receive votes from the community, and the top vote-getters receive $200 grants toward their projects and Flip video cameras from PCI. More extensive details about the micro grants program will be available in the coming months.

"Special education teachers have a vital and unique place in the education system," said Sandy Fivecoat, CEO and founder of WeAreTeachers.  "This partnership allows us to continue to provide them with the best support, ideas and products in the education field."
