Crestron Unveils 32x32 Matrix Switcher

Crestron has introduced a new matrix switcher that can be configured with up to 32 input cards, making it the largest switcher in Crestron’s DigitalMedia line.

The new switcher, model DM-MD32X32, uses modular DMC input cards and DMCO output cards to send and receive AV signals through a variety of inputs, including component, RGB, DVI, S-video, composite, and others, configurable through modular cards.

With the right cards the switcher can handle resolutions up to 1080i/30 and 2,048 x 1,552 progressive.

Twelve DMC cards and 36 DMCO cards are currently available for use with switcher. All DMC input cards feature an HDMI passthrough, allowing up to five switchers to be daisy chained.

Specific cards include the DMC-DVI, a card that offers a DVI-I, USB HD, audio in, and HDMI out ports, and the DMC-HD, a card that offers HDMI in, HDMI out, USB HID, and audio out ports.

The switcher also features EDID Format Management, a technology Crestron has developed to prevent conflicts leading to lost video and audio quality between input and output devices.

Other features include an AV transmission range of 1,000 feet using fiber cable and Ethernet connectivity by way of a 10/100/1000Base-T with auto-discovery, auto-switching, and auto-negotiation.

The DM-MD32X32 will ship this month. Further information is available here.
