Epson Debuts Interactive LCD Projector

Epson's BrightLink 455Wi can be mounted on a table to create horizontal interactive surfaces.

Epson has rolled out a new projector that can turn walls, tabletops, and other flat surfaces into interactive learning environments.

The new BrightLink 455Wi is an ultra-short-throw LCD model capable of projecting an 80-inch (diagonal) image from a distance of 10 inches. It can operate as close as 2.8 inches from the projection surface and can be coupled with an optional table mount to turn horizontal surfaces into interactive tables.

The projector itself offers a native WXGA resolution (1,280 x 800 pixels) and a brightness of 2,500 lumens. It includes two digital IR pens (and pen tray) for interacting with projected images.

Other features include:

  • Built-in closed captioning decoder;
  • Microphone input and 12 watt speaker;
  • RJ-45 for Ethernet-based LAN connectivity, providing remote control and monitoring; and
  • EasyMP Monitor software for broadcasting alerts.

The BrightLink 455Wi is available now with standard wall mount hardware for $1,699 through Epson's Brighter Futures program or $2,199 street. An adjustable wall mount will be available in May for $519, and an adjustable mobile cart will also be available in May for $1,499. Further information can be found here.
