Progress Testing To Release Staar Test Maker

Progress Testing will release STAAR Test Maker this summer, ahead of the implementation of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness exams for the 2011-2012 school year.

The new software allows teachers to create tests from a database of questions aligned to the Staar Readiness and Supporting Standards and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards.

STAAR Test Maker's features include:

  • Color-coded reports;
  • The ability to select questions based on genre, Lexile, Spache, or word count;
  • An authoring feature for adding new questions; and
  • Automatic generation of bubble sheets and answer keys.

STAAR Test Maker will be available in three editions.

The elementary school edition includes reading, math, and writing for grades 3, 4, and 5, and grade 5 science.

The middle school edition has questions for reading, writing, and math for grades 6, 7, and 8, and grade 8 Science.

The high school EOC edition covers Algebra I and II, geometry, biology, chemistry, physics, English I, II, and III, United States history, world history, and world geography.

Unlimited site licenses for the elementary and middle school editions are $2,495. Unlimited site licenses for the high school edition are $5,995. Individual subjects from the high school edition can also be purchased for $1,000 each.
