Teachers' Domain Adds Public Health Collection
WGBH Boston's Teachers' Domain has launched a collection of environmental public health resources targeted at students in grades 6 through 12.
Teachers' Domain is a free online resource center featuring more than 4,000 media assets from public broadcasting and its partners that can be sorted by subject, Common Core State Standards, national standards, or state educational frameworks. Teachers' Domain also includes support materials, tools for classroom lessons, individualized learning programs, and teacher professional learning communities.
The new EPH collection currently includes 32 videos, with plans to expand to 60 by the end of May, covering five areas of public health:
The EPH collection includes material from sources such as Nova, Frontline, the National Library of Medicine, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
"The EPH collection goes beyond building awareness of how the environment can affect public health," said Associate Director of WGBH Educational Productions Howard Laurie. "It also asks students to question their assumptions about environmental health, and spotlights the public health strategies that address them. Most importantly, it shows that students can play a role in confronting the issues."
The EPH collection can be found here. For more information or to access other Teachers' Domain resources, visit teachersdomain.org.
