Panasonic To Launch Toughbook Android Tablet

Panasonic's Toughbook tablet features a bright screen for daylight viewing and enough battery life for a full work shift.

Panasonic will release a ruggedized Toughbook Android tablet for enterprise customers later this year.

The new tablet will feature a high brightness 10.1-inch multi-touch display with 1024 X 768 resolution for daylight viewing, and an active stylus for signature capture.

Other features will include:

  • Security embedded at the hardware level;
  • Durability and ingress protection consistent with other Toughbook devices;
  • Satellite-based GPS;
  • Enough battery life to last a full shift; and
  • Optional 3G or 4G connectivity.

President of Panasonic Solutions Company Rance Poehler said, "The vast majority of tablet devices--regardless of the OS--are engineered for consumers and don’t offer appropriate levels of security and durability or the functionality needed for business use. Like all Toughbook products, our Toughbook tablet will be designed and constructed with the mission-critical mobile user in mind."

The new tablet will be available at the end of 2011. More information on Toughbook products is available at Panasonic.com.
