iLinc Now Integrates with Moodle

iLinc has released a new version of its presentation software that integrates with Moodle.

iLinc for Moodle, created by the Phoenix, AZ, provider of Web and video conferencing, lets Moodle users schedule, manage, and join iLinc virtual classroom sessions. Moodle is a free open-source course management system used to conduct online courses.

The browser-based iLinc allows users to share live and streaming video with no restriction on the number of feeds, document and desktop sharing with markup tools, and a powerboard environment, similar to a whiteboard, in which users can interact simultaneously.

Other features of iLinc include:

  • The ability to restrict the viewing of certain applications;
  • The option to zoom in on certain areas in an application;
  • Web sync, which lets users open web pages, click on and open links;
  • A green meter, which calculates how much money--and carbon--is saved by using the virtual software;
  • Presentation of PowerPoint or video clips;
  • Feedback tools that include a hand-raise indicator, on-demand polling and survey questions, private chats, and launching tests;
  • Audio options such as integrated phone conferencing, which is managed within the iLinc interface, or Internet audio.
  • Audience management functionalities, including the ability to give someone else the floor, letting users share desktops, turning off someone's camera, bandwidth indicator, and iLinc participation meters, which measure the levels of engagement of each user; and
  • iLinc breakout group, which lets users pair up in small groups, giving them access to resources and allows them to transfer files.
