App Takes Classroom Observation to Tablets
GoKnow Mobile Learning, in collaboration with the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP), has released GoObserve, a classroom observation and walkthrough app for Android tablets and the iPad.
The new application takes classroom observation mobile, allowing users to import teacher names and information directly from their contact list and track observations on their calendar. It includes 12 default observation activities, as well as sample key phrases, common observation criteria, built-in timers to record activity duration, and real-time activity monitoring. Users can also generate reports directly from their tablets.
The release follows the app's pilot launch in hundreds of schools across Michigan this fall. A traditional computer-based version of GoKnow was released in 2007.
“We heard from administrators across the state that they wanted an observation tool that would work on tablets, be self-contained and enable them to be truly mobile," said Jim Ballard, executive director of MASSP in a statement. "The GoKnow development team did an outstanding job of bringing our vision to life in a very short timeframe and we are excited about what this product can do for our administrators.”
GoObserve is priced at $149.95 with one year of the company's cloud reporting and backup service included.
