Knovation Releases iCurio Curriculum Resource for Educators, Students

Knovation, the maker of neTrekker, has just released icurio, an online resource aimed at providing educators with a wealth of learning materials and tools to help differentiate instruction for students.

Users can access more than 330,000 Common Core standards-aligned digital resources for K-12 curriculum areas from elementary to high school and filter materials by type, including video, images, games, lesson plans, and Web materials in subjects ranging from math and science to philosophy and the arts. Resources can be further personalized by language, reading level, and type of learning aid, and further browse by timeline and famous individuals. Users can also sort through materials from providers like BrainPOP and Promethean.

Beyond the search and retrieval of learning materials, icurio provides:

  • Organizational tools for teachers by individual and by school, along with individual organizers for students;
  • Professional learning resources for teachers, including links to materials on subjects like 21st century skills, references and citations, and assessing and teaching English language learners;
  • The ability to search Common Core standards, individual state and province standards, and ISTE NETS;
  • A text-to-speech reader; and
  • Group and individual activities, including games of the week.

icurio also provides a professional learning plan with each subscription that's "co-developed as part of every school or district implementation plan," according to Knovation.

Mooresville Graded School District in North Carolina is one of the early adopters of icurio. “Our strategic decision to implement icurio affords each MGSD student the ability to use data rich content to meet their individual needs,” said Scott S. Smith, Mooresville chief technology officer, in a prepared statement. “In the 21st century teaching and learning environment, icurio is a natural fit for MGSD to reach every child every day.”

According to Knovation, the 65,000-student School District of Manatee County in Florida has also adopted the solution.
