Lifetime To Give Away $300,000 in School Technology

The Balancing Act, a television program airing on Lifetime, is offering $300,000 in 21st Century educational tools through the Dream School Challenge Contest in an effort to promote learning for the next generation.
One winning school will receive prizes and educational tools worth $150,000 including a district license for CurriculumLoft, a class set of Kuno tablets, and a chance to appear on the Lifetime network.
Five other schools will receive prizes worth $30,000 each for a total of $300,000 given through the sweepstakes.
Dream School Challenge prizes include:
- Progressive school furniture and equipment;
- Online professional development tools for educators;
- Classroom management systems;
- Curriculum software; and
- A digital learning program designed to bring art into instruction.
The sweepstakes is being offered in conjunction with the program's Parent Teacher Corner series, which address issues in K-12 education in America for an audience of parents, teachers, administrators, and community members.
In addition to Curriculum Loft and KUNO, other participating sponsors include Infinite Minds, Virco, The Source for Learning, and Madcap Logic.
Voting is open to parents, students, teachers, school administrators, and members of the community. Voters, who must be at least 13 years old, can log in and casting a vote for the school of their choice at the contest Web site before midnight June 8.
A one-hour special set to air April 24 at 7:00 am (ET/PT) and called "The Future is Now: The Dream School of the 21st Century," will profile classrooms nationwide that have already begun to use interactive tools to engage students.
Featured technology on the special will include:
- 1:1 computing;
- Software designed to maximize technology for learning; and
- Curricula designed to enhance the brain.
