Blackboard's New Android App Supports Facebook and Twitter

Blackboard's Connect division has released a new app for Android that lets users create and send mass messages directly from mobile devices, and includes functionality for cross posting on social media channels like Facebook and Twitter.

Specifically, the app supports voice, email, and text (SMS) messages and includes several message templates. Real-time reports can confirm delivery for both voice and SMS messages.

The system can also post to Facebook and Twitter and send messages to devices designed for the hearing impaired.

It is available at the Android store for use with Blackboard Connect 5 and with Android version 2.2 (Froyo) or higher.

The new app is similar to Blackboard's existing Connect app for iOS, which also serves as a mobile tool for mass notifications. The company also offers a mobile learning app for iPhone and iPad that makes much of the system's core functionality, like access to documents and discussion forums, available on mobile devices.
