Wowzers Goes Mobile

Wowzers has launched a new, mobile version of its online game-based math instruction program for grades 3 through 8.

Wowzers offers online instruction in the complete Common Core math curriculum for grades 3 through 5 and supplemental instruction for grades 6 through 8. The new version is supported on any mobile device, including iPhone, iPad, and Android devices, so students can access Wowzers lessons inside or outside of the classroom. It also offers more content and features.

"Students absorb information in different ways and at varying speeds, and mobile learning is ideal to help each student learn at his or her own pace," said Reed Howard, CEO of Wowzers, in a prepared statement.

Wowzers is intended to make math instruction fun and engaging for students by providing instruction through interactive online games. According to information released by the company, the new version provides more intuitive learning features and a continuously adaptive learning system, which individualizes the instruction for students in real time, so students who grasp concepts quickly can move ahead, while students who struggle receive additional help, automatically.

"Wowzers was built on the theory that engaged students are interested students--and this new version is even more intuitive, making learning even that much more engaging," added Howard

New features in Wowzers include:

  • Artificial intelligence to provide students with hints, called "nudges," when they are stuck and having difficulty understanding a concept;
  • Whiteboard remediation lessons when students still have trouble with a concept after receiving nudges;
  • Automatic difficulty adjustment based on student performance, so students who answer correctly receive increasingly difficult questions, while students who answer incorrectly receive easier questions; and
  • Additional learning objects for students who need further instruction.

The new version of Wowzers with mobile access is available now. The cost is $25 per student or $7,000 per school for 33 weeks of hosted content and unlimited access for students and teachers.
